Two weeks before the fasting month, the enthusiasm of the community is still not visible in several textile trading centers in the Banyuwangi Regency wholesale market, Tuesday (22/3/2022). The reason is, sales of sarongs and mukena are still quiet. One of the textile traders, Adam Djuhri said, usually before fasting the demand for mukenas increases. But this year it is still the same as normal conditions. "Usually it increases to be used for tarawih worship in the month of fasting. Last year there were still buyers ahead of the fast. But this year it's quiet,” complained Djuhri.

According to him, the lack of buyers is possible due to economic factors due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, which is still not over. As well as online markets that are now easily accessible.

"Now the competition is fierce, in addition to the online market, there is also a pandemic situation," said Djuhri.

He admitted that he was confused and had to reduce the stock of mukenah and other clothing commodities to anticipate losses. "The stock is reduced, I want to take it, I'm afraid it won't sell," he said.

The same thing was conveyed by a sarong seller, Husama, who admitted that sales until before the fast were still not stable. Market conditions are currently uncertain, but usually mid-fasting has started to get busy.

"We hope that from the start of fasting until approaching Eid later, there will be an increase in sales," Husama hoped.
